I love anything pineapple in home decor right now. Pair this wood pineapple DIY with a rustic wooden tray painted with classic black and white stripes? Yes.
Supplies needed to make your own pineapple DIY decor:
- Wood Pineapple Cutout
- Wood Chevron Tray
- One Step Stain and Polyurethane
- Light Green Crosshatch Cardstock
- Yellow Plaid Cardstock
- Mod Podge Matte
- Black Paint
- White Paint
- Core’dinations Sand It Gadget
The first thing I did was stain my wooden tray. Did you know that they made spray stain? Me neither but as soon as I saw it, I got super excited! No mess! And I don’t know how else I would have gotten the stain down into the tight spaces between the wooden slats of this tray.
Following the directions on the can, I just gave the whole tray a nice even coat of stain.
It is perfect for tight spots, and rough wooden surfaces.
In the meantime, you can begin on the pineapple for the tray.
Line the pineapple up on the yellow patterned paper. If you are picky (like me) make sure to line the pineapple up evenly on the printed design.
Now, back to the wooden tray!
Once the Varathane is dry, you can begin painting your black and white stripes.
Repeat with black paint.
Adhere your pineapple to the center of the tray. The pineapple will attach on the outer frame of the tray for a fun three-dimensional look.Confession: I adhered the pineapple temporarily. I wanted to be able to trade the tray decoration out with the seasons and thought the black and white rustic background would be darling for Halloween!
I love having versatile home decor pieces – I hope you enjoyed today’s pineapple DIY project, and that it inspired you!
