What do you get when you combine a painted canvas with Duck Tape? Modern tree art, of course! I was inspired by this polka dot circle tree from Crafts by Amanda. My oldest daughter fell in love with it when she spied it on Pinterest. I decided to add my own spin to it with a little Duck Tape. After all, my daughter is going to decorate her new apartment in a safari theme….so lets break out the zebra and leopard!
- Duck Tape Brand Zebra Sheet
- Duck Tape Brand Spotted Leopard Sheet
- Paint in Burnt Umber
- 18 x 24″ Canvas
- Embossing Machine
- Circle Dies or Circle Punch
Use the circle dies and embossing machine to cut various size circles from the Duck tape sheets. You could also use a pair of scissors and some circle templates. The Duck Tape sheets are a must though, as those make the tape easy to cut.
I used my inspiration image to sketch a tree shape by hand onto the canvas with a pencil. I then used the burnt umber paint to paint the tree. After your paint dries, begin to position your circles. Don’t adhere them to the canvas until you play around with the placement.
This one is ready to head to the new apartment. I love how easy this project is yet it creates a huge piece of art for any room in your home. Not in love with the safari theme? There are tons of Duck Tape options available on ConsumerCrafts for you to choose from.
What type of modern tree art will you make?
