Today, I’m going to show you how to make a pillow with a personalized photo viewfinder!
I have very fond memories of squinting into a View-Master and seeing images of my favorite cartoon characters and shows. As a homage to this retro “icon,” I made my own fabric viewfinder with images of my favorite people, my four kids. I placed my images onto a pillow, for all to see and enjoy!
Are you ready for me to show you how to make a pillow viewfinder?! Let’s get started!
Supplies needed to make your own personalized viewfinder pillows:
- Silhouette Machine
- Viewmaster Cutting File
- Iron-On Heat Transfer Paper (Coming soon to ConsumerCrafts!)
- Silhouette Interfacing
- Silhouette Fabric Cutting Blade
- Fabric & Iron
- Pillow
Step one: Open the file in your Silhouette Studio program. Use the viewfinder outline to resize and position each photo into a square. Print the photos onto the iron-on transfer paper.
Step two: Iron the interfacing onto the fabric. Then cut the shape from the fabric.
Step three: Trim the photo print out, remove the plastic backing and place it on the pillow. Put the fabric viewfinder on top. Cover both the fabric and pillow with the paper that comes in the iron-on pack, and iron.
For the second pillow, simply iron the interfacing onto various colors of fabric, cut with the Silhouette, and iron on! Isn’t it a fun kaleidoscope of color?
All my kids got a kick out of these pillows, especially the one with their pictures. My 22 month old likes to carry it around the house, point at all the pictures and name who he sees. This would make a fun photo gift for loved ones, too!
Whose photos would you capture in your viewfinder?

Ok. This is the cutest thing I have seen in a long time! I love it! I think it would be so cute for my grandson for his 3rd birthday… or my sisters for our sisters getaway to each have our own one personalized. I will be doing this one! Thanks for sharing your creativity!!

Thank you, Joi and Kim! So glad you like this idea.
Morena, these are ADORABLE! They would be a great idea for my niece and nephews who live out of town… so they can recognize our faces outside of Facetime and the occasional visit. 🙂
