Editor’s Note: We are so excited that our sponsor ConsumerCrafts.com is now carrying a full line of yarns! To celebrate, we’re featuring yarn crafts all this week Sarah starts us off with some fun Halloween Crochet. Enjoy!
I started crocheting at a really young age. I use to watch my mom crochet and I would snuggle next to her and cover myself with the afghan she was working on. I learned to crochet just by watching her.
Here is a simple Halloween Coaster I designed using some of Consumer Crafts NEW yarn skeins.
Materials:
Caron No Dye Lot Taupe Yarn
Caron No Dye Lot Black Yarn
Crochet Hook Size G
To make the spider web:
For beginners: Start by making a slip knot around the crochet hook. See picture
Next chain 4, and then slip stitch to form a circle. To form a slip stitch bring hook through stitch, bring yarn over hook, and draw through both stitches.
Next double stitch 12 times inside of the circle, slip stitch to finish the circle.
Chain 10, then single crochet stitch to your circle. Continue the web by chaining 10 then single crocheting. Tie off yarn when you are done.
Start a new chain stitch at the top of the web. Double Stitch twice inside of the web and then chain four, continue all the way around.
To make the spider:
Chain 4, and then slip stitch to form a circle.
Next double stitch 12 times inside of the circle, slip stitch to finish the circle.
Chain 10 and then single crochet back. Crochet to the next stitch then chain 10, single crochet back. Make a total of 8 legs all around the circle.
Leave yarn to tie to the crochet coaster spider web.
Use the web as a coaster and the spider as a spot to place your spoon after you stirred your coffee.
Make several Halloween Coasters as gifts or use for your own home!
