Turn a wood geometric heart into a fabulous DIY heart wall hanging with paint, yarn, and metallic cord. A fun Valentine’s Day craft that can stay on your wall all year long.
As soon as I saw this geometric wood heart I knew I needed to make a wall hanging with it! The cutouts make it perfect for wall hanging and painting it pink with pink yarn makes it the perfect Valentine’s Day craft. Plus, I’ve decided that you can’t go wrong with any craft that combines hearts, pink, and gold into one awesome project.
Supplies needed to make your own DIY heart wall hanging:
- Wood Heart
- Yarn in Your Choice of Colors. I used:
- Gold Metallic Cord
- Pink Acrylic Paint
- Paint Brushes
Start by painting the geometric heart. While the paint is drying, cut your yarn into 24 inch pieces.
Once the paint dries, gather 10 strands of each color yarn and loop it around the border of the geometric heart. I also added three pieces of gold cord between each section of pink yarn.
Continue to add sections of yarn and gold cording around the bottom of the heart.
As you can see, I chose to paint my DIY heart pink and use shades of pink yarn, but feel free to use your favorite color paint and different colored yarn. That’s what makes this project so fun. You can easily make it unique with your own favorite colors.
Trim the ends so the yarn is an even V shape and you’re geometric wall hanging is ready to hang.
Isn’t it gorgeous? And, it was so easy to make. Gotta love an easy craft project!
