How-to: Fairy Succulent Garden

Craft Basics· Floral· Home Decor

The weather is finally feeling like springtime and I’ve been in the gardening mood! I have really enjoyed the warm nights and beautiful evening sky that Texas has to offer. So I am in the process of turning my back porch into my new sanctuary. I have had two empty barrels sitting on my back porch since we moved in and had no idea what to do with one of them.  I saw the new fairy garden collection from Consumer Crafts and knew one of those barrels would be great for a fairy succulent garden!

Fairy-succulent-garden-Crafts-UnleashedI’m not one for a green thumb so I chose my go-to favorite hard to kill plants, succulents, to fill up the barrel.

Fairy-succulent-garden-Crafts-Unleashed-1Want to make a succulent garden of your own?

Supplies needed to make your own fairy succulent garden:

supply-list

  • Miniature Garden Fairy House
  • Miniature Bench
  • Mini Garden Basket
  • Fairy Garden Tools
  • Wishing Well
  • Fairy Garden Stones
  • Moon Lights Strand
  • Mini Fence
  • Sheet Moss
  • Fish Gravel & Potting Soil
  • Real or Artificial Succulents
  • Barrel or Pot

Fairy-succulent-garden-Crafts-Unleashed-5I wanted my succulent garden to have a some height to it instead of being flat. So I made the soil a little higher on one side of the barrel.

Fairy-succulent-garden-Crafts-Unleashed-11Once my small mountain was created, I added the moss to the side of the mound.  Then, I just started placing succulents and fairy garden items in where I wanted them to go. It was a little trial and error until I got everything in place.

Fairy-succulent-garden-Crafts-Unleashed-17Then I added fish gravel to make a pathway from the house to the garden. I also added black fish gravel to the bottom part of the succulent garden for rich color.

Fairy-succulent-garden-Crafts-Unleashed-3I have to say, I think my favorite part about this fairy garden are the Moon Lights! I just placed them in the succulent forest making sure the battery pack was in reach.

Fairy-succulent-garden-Crafts-Unleashed-4Once the sun started to set I turned on the Moon Lights and the whole succulent garden lit up! This part really impressed my boys.  I took the lights out once I was done using the them. They are really small and no problem to take them in and out so the lights will last.

Fairy-succulent-garden-Crafts-Unleashed-25I love how this fairy garden turned out! It is the perfect adorable addition to my back porch.

Fairy-succulent-garden-Crafts-Unleashed-2Happy Spring!

Oh I loved the fairy garden on a terracotta pot. I have 3 little grand daughters and will make one for them. As I am in Ireland I shall have to really look, or improvise, for some bits but can’t wait to find my supplies. Thank you so much for the inspiration.
