Looking for a pretty way to spruce up your entryway decor? What better way to invite someone into your home then this simple hello sign. Not only is it easy to make, but you can customize it to fit any decor style. In our home, our style is fairly neutral so I chose to keep this natural and somewhat rustic. I also love that the plaque has a chain so you can hang this on your front door or on the wall.
Supplies needed to make your own entry way hello sign:
- Laser Cut Wood Hello Sign
- Unfinished Oval Wood Plaque
- White Chalky Finish Paint
- Stain or Rustic Brown Chalk Paint
- Foam Brushes
- Darice Wood Glue
You’ll begin this hello sign craft by staining your laser cut hello plaque. (Be sure to do so in a well ventilated area.) If you don’t have stain you can create a similar look by watering down a dark brown paint and painting it on. Or better yet, switch it up altogether with a bright fun color! When you are staining or painting the laser cut words, you’ll want to take special care around the small cut out areas so you don’t accidentally break them off.
After you’ve applied your stain, you’ll set it aside to dry.
Now you’ll prepare your solid wood plaque. Using a brush, apply a layer of chalky finish paint in everlasting. You may want to apply two coats.
When both the stained “hello” and the painted plaque are dry, you’ll glue them together using wood glue.
Press the hello portion down onto the plaque. Let the glue dry completely and you are all set. Enjoy greeting guests that enter your home with your new hello sign!

Simple and perfect
I really like the way this decorative entry plaque looks. I like how you used a warm color for the wood stain and an accent board behind it to help bring out the lettering. The only thing I would need is a place to hang it on the wall in my entry way. Thanks for sharing your project.
Very cute Marie,
Really nice to have by your front door. Or other words or sayings around your home.
Thumbs up.
Thanks Jill
