I recently had the idea to help my growing little sister with decorating her room to suit her style more. This trendy arrow DIY coat rack has all her favorite colors and is trendy enough to go with her bed spread and wall decor. Check out how easy it is to create your own!
- Bent Arrow Wall Hook
- Unfinished Wood Arrow
- Paint Brush or Foam Brush
- Chalk Paint in your preferred colors
- Painter’s Tape
- Gold Leaf Paint or Metallic Gold Spray Paint
- Drill Bit & 3/4″ Screws
- Sawtooth Hanger
Step 1. Sand your arrow to get rid of all rough areas. I used a rustic arrow that was designed to be rough, but you can definitely sand it to create a smooth surface to create a modern feel. If you have a palm sander, feel free to use that instead of normal sandpaper!
Step 2. Tape off blocks on your arrow and start painting. To envision what colors go well, swatch them on a piece of white paper. I thought of going with a pink/teal and black combination first, but I thought it would fit more with her current style to make it gold, black and teal. Make sure to get the sides and the back as well!
Step 3. When painting the other areas, make sure to mask the areas you have already done with some painter’s tape to keep a straight edge. I used spray paint to paint the rest of the color-blocked sections so I masked off all the areas I’ve painted already. You can interchange Step 2 and 3, whichever you think is easier for you.
Step 4. Once you are done painting, remove all the painter’s tape when everything is dry. Touch it up to your liking, and then screw the wall hook on using 3/4″ screws. I just love this bent arrow hook so much! Don’t forget to attach a sawtooth hanger on the back so you can hang up your DIY coat rack.
This easy and trendy arrow DIY coat rack literally takes about an hour or so to make and you can definitely create multiples to create a statement! As for my sister, she only needed one for her school cardigan to hang, but you can also attach multiple hooks on the same arrow for more hangers – or even use it as a jewelry storage piece!
