My mother and my grandmother had doilies in their houses. I remember my mother crocheting intricate little side-table accessories with a thin crochet hook and even thinner thread. And while I may not be clamoring to put doilies on headrests or tables, I do think that they’re still lovely as wall art.
I found these little pineapple doilies and was immediately inspired. They look like flowers. Why not create a shabby chic DIY canvas wall art project? I grabbed some twigs and a glue gun, and we were off to the races!
- 4-5 Pineapple Doilies
- 12 x 16″ Canvas
- Americana Chalky Paint (I’m obsessed, I know!)
- Paint Brush
- Hot Glue Gun
- Beads (I chose clear teardrop, but I think pearls would be lovely too)
I collected my supplies and was immediately taken by how lovely everything looked together. The beads came from a vintage necklace that had spectacularly fallen apart. Seeing as I wasn’t going to re-thread the thing, I figured why not repurpose it?
There. You’ve been warned!
It’s a mighty seal of approval.
