Spring is here and your front door is just dying for a bright and cheery DIY butterfly wreath to greet your guests! It comes together easily and only requires a few supplies. You can customize it by changing out the butterflies for a bird’s nest and some mushroom birds or stick to all one color of butterfly for a dramatic look. So many options!
Supplies needed to make your own DIY butterfly wreath:
- 12 inch Grapevine Wreath.
- Ivy Chain Garland (3).
- 30 Gauge Green Cloth Covered Wire.
- Assorted Craft Butterflies.
Step One. Create a circle with one of the ivy strands and secure it to itself with floral wire. Make sure your circle diameter is just a bit larger than the grapevine wreath. Continue adding ivy strands until you have used up all three.
Step Two. Use the floral wire to connect ivy strands with the grapevine wreath. I connected it in six different places to make sure it was really secure!
Step Three. Use the wire attached to each butterfly to secure in place on the grapevine wreath and ivy strands. I was a bit too ambitious with some of my butterflies and the wire accidentally popped off. You can either fix it with a glue gun or just apply glue directly to the back of the butterfly and stick in place on the DIY butterfly wreath. Continue attaching butterflies until wreath is filled!
All that’s left to do is hang your DIY butterfly wreath on your door and enjoy a beautiful spring day! To maintain the shape, I suggest you hang by the grapevine wreath instead of the ivy strands. As I mentioned above, you can easily customize this wreath by just swapping out the butterflies for birds or even miniature pieces.
