Is there anything that screams “fall” quite so much as cinnamon sticks and jute cording? This rustic cinnamon stick wreath is easy to make and only requires a few basic craft supplies. Feel free to use this basic tutorial as a leaping off point to customize your own wreath with fabric yo-yo’s, artificial flowers, or any other decor you like.
Supplies needed to make your own cinnamon stick wreath:
Step 1. Begin by gluing a row of cinnamon sticks to the wire wreath form with your glue gun. Since there’s only a tiny bit of wire they can stick to, the cinnamon sticks are going to feel kind of flimsy. Don’t worry, you’ll be adding more glue and reinforcing with the jute twine to solidify the wreath.
Step 2. Once the first layer of sticks is in place, add the second layer in between and angled downward. Check out the image below to get a better idea of what I mean. You’re basically filling in all the empty spaces so that you can’t see the wire wreath below.
Step 3. Wrap the jute twine around cinnamon sticks (at the edge of the wire wreath form). Make sure to leave enough at the ends to tie off and secure.
Step 4. Separate the individual branches off the floral spray and insert in place on the wreath. I squeezed the wire end in between the wire frame and lower cinnamon sticks (with the wire sticking out into the middle of the wreath.) When all the berries are in place, gently flip the wreath over and fold the excess wire onto the back.
Step 5. Now that all the cinnamon stick wreath elements are in place, secure everything with a healthy amount of glue! Notice how I added glue to the cinnamon sticks, jute twine, and berry sprays.
I absolutely love my new rustic cinnamon stick wreath and hope to use it on my front door for many years to come.
Again, I left mine pretty minimal and modern but you could always add some artificial flowers or any other embellishment to suit your style. Have fun making it your own!
