I love decorating with wreaths and this time of year I love warming my home up with a beautiful DIY yarn wreath. Yarn adds an element of warmth to your home and is perfect to use to create a beautiful soft wreath. I just love how they look. In fact you can see my first attempt at a yarn wreath here. I love how it turned out. So today I am excited to share another cute idea for creating a simple yarn wreath for your home this fall.
For this DIY yarn wreath I used two different colors of yarn, a grey and a cream color. I love the contrast of the two colors for a beautiful fall feel. It is still light and airy but warm and cozy feeling. I am in love.
- 12″ Styrofoam Wreath
- Grey Marble Wool Yarn
- Starlight Metallic Wool Yarn
- Hot Glue Gun and Hot Glue Sticks
To create this wreath, begin by wrapping your grey yarn around your styrofoam wreath form. Because the wreath form is styrofoam the yarn will actually stick to it really well. It is still important to put a dab of hot glue at the beginning, end and a few in between spots to ensure that it stays well.
You can wrap it however you like. I like to wrap multiple layers of yarn around the wreath to create a thicker chunky look. But you can just do one simple wrapped layer if you prefer. It is really up to you.
After the grey yarn is finished you can use your cream yarn to wrap a diagonal pattern around the wreath. Then wrap the yarn in a diagonal pattern going the other direction and you will create a cute criss-cross argyle type of pattern to your wreath!
