Whether you’re a huge fan of riding your bike or just fond of all the vintage bike artwork that you can find in many stores, this Mini Vintage Bike DIY Wall Art is sure to become a favorite in your household! This DIY wall art is easy to make and customize to fit any room in your home!
Supplies needed to make your own bicycle DIY wall art:
- Mini Wire Bicycle (similar version)
- Unfinished 8×8″ Wooden Painting Panel
- Natural Color Wood Jumbo Craft Sticks
- Hot Temp Glue Gun
- DecoArt® Crafter’s Acrylic™ Turquoise Paint
- Small Flowers
- Sharp Scissors
Step One. Using sharp scissors (not your good fabric ones though!), trim off the rounded corners of the Jumbo Craft Sticks. The sticks cut surprisingly easy, just be careful with any flying wood pieces!
Step Two. Layout the sticks in a pleasing pattern on the unfinished wood panel. Glue in place with hot glue. Continue trimming, gluing, and placing each of the sticks until the panel is completely covered.
Step Three. Apply paint to the miniature wire bike. You’ll only need one coat if you want more of a rustic look, two if you want full coverage.
Step Four. Apply hot glue to the pieces of the bike that make contact with the wood background (back wheel, one side of handlebar, and basket.) Notice how I had to make a makeshift support beam with some wood scraps for the basket. It’s not pretty but it was necessary for structural support. Don’t worry about it too much, the flowers will hide the wood supports!
Step Five. Fill your basket with either small flowers, a miniature dog, or any other small items. It’s tons of fun deciding what to put in it!
You see what I mean about this DIY wall art being easy to customize to fit your decor? You could always whitewash the wood background and leave the bike it’s natural metal. Or paint each row a different color with a simple white bicycle. Or go stark white on the back with a metallic gold bike.
The options are endless, I tell you! Hope you have fun making your own Mini Vintage Bicycle DIY Wall Art!
