Anthro Inspired Initial Wall Art

I wanted a little something to brighten up my craft space. I found some wall art letters at Anthropologie that I fell in love with. At 16 bucks a letter they were just a tad bit out of my price range. So I decided to create my own wall art letters inspired by that bright and bold design I liked!

Initial-wall-art-Crafts-UnleashedReady to make a few wall art letters of your own?

Anthro-wall-art-Crafts-Unleashed-4Supplies needed to make your own Anthro inspired initial wall art:

Initial-wall-art-Crafts-Unleashed-2Step one: Start by painting the sides of your letters. I painted each letter a different color. I wanted bright colors so I went with a turquoise and orange.

Step two: Once the sides of your letters have been painted, trace the letters.  Be sure to flip the letters before tracing! You don’t want to trace the letter backward.  Cut out your scrapbook paper letter.

Initial-wall-art-Crafts-Unleashed-2Step three: Using a foam brush, layer on a coat of Mod Podge.  Place the scrapbook paper that you just cut out on top of the paper mache letter and let it dry for a few minutes.

Initial-wall-art-Crafts-Unleashed-3Step four: Using an X-Acto knife, carefully cut around the edges of the scrapbook paper. This gives it a nice even edge.  Once the paper has been trimmed, sand the paper along the edges using a nail file.

Initial-wall-art-Crafts-Unleashed-4Step five: Add another layer of Mod Podge to the top of your letters to seal the paper. The Mod Podge will dry clear.
