Upcycle an Old T-shirt into a “Yarn” Coffee Cup Sleeve

I have so many old t-shirts that I would love to find new uses for. I usually use them as dusting rags but my mom told me that when she lived in Thailand they would cut up old t-shirts and braid them into floor mats.  I loved the idea.  I decided to cut up an old t-shirt and make a reusable coffee cup sleeve.  I love this because you are saving the environment two ways.

Cut the t-shirt into one long, connecting strip.

Pull the strip tight so that the edges start curling.  You can use the t-shirt yarn for anything now.   Using the loom, I knitted 15 rows to make the sleeve.  You can see my previous post on loom knitting, here.
This is such a quick, simple and inexpensive project that is functional and helps the earth at the same time!

Was wondering more details about how to make this.. I’m a newbie. I do not have a flower loom just a small loom. Do you just knit up to 15 pegs on a small loom? Thanks!
