With three kids running me in circles most days, it’s becoming increasingly more difficult to get some quality crafting time in. I’ve learned that I have to be strategic with my precious creative time so I’ve began creating projects that can either have a space in our home for the long haul or serve some kind of dual purpose. Today’s project is a bonus because it checks off both of those boxes for me! This reversible summer DIY pennant banner is set to last all summer long as it has a patriotic side perfect for Flag Day and Independence Day and a summer picnic theme on the other side to cover all of the other days in between!
- Wood Pennant Banner Panels
- Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint in Romance and Everlasting
- DecoArt Acrylic Paint in Truly Blue and Wild Green
- 2.5″ Star Punch
- White Cardstock
- Tacky Glue
- Foam Paint Brushes
- Washi Tape
- Assorted Ribbon ( I used white and red chevron grosgrain)
- Sharpie Permanent Marker
Step Four. On the other side of the red banner panels, paint approximately a one inch border of the Wild Green acrylic paint on each of the panels at the top with a small stripe of white underneath. Use a Sharpie to draw seeds/tear drop shapes on the remaining red area.
Step Eight. On the reverse side of the white banner panels, use the Sharpie permanent marker to draw lines of ants. To draw an ant, create three small circles that are barely touching. Draw three small, slightly curved legs on each side. Easy peasy!
We also love these festive patriotic party favor baskets that can easily be customized for any theme!
