I’m a person that loves having photos of my family and friends all over my home, but with a finite amount of wall space, I’ve started to get creative with where I can sprinkle a few extra memories. Personalized coasters are a great option for adding a few more pictures and because they’re fairly simple to create, they also make for a fantastic gift idea! Whether you’re looking for a Christmas or a housewarming present idea, these coasters can be given year round – follow along as I show you how to make DIY coasters.
Supplies needed for this how to make DIY coasters tutorial:
- Unfinished Wood Coaster Set
- Patterned Scrapbook Paper
- Photos
- Outdoor Mod Podge Waterproof Sealer
- Permanent Double Sided Tape Roller
- Scissors
- Pencil
Step one. Begin by tracing around the edge of the coaster on the back of the patterned paper and the front side of the photo with the pencil.
Step two. Trim around the edges of the lines with the scissors.
Step three. Use the double sided adhesive to adhere a photo to one side of a coaster and a piece of the patterned paper to the other side. Press each side firmly.
Step four. Apply 3-4 light coats of Outdoor Mod Podge on each side of the coasters with a foam brush. The Outdoor Mod Podge is key because it is waterproof and that’s super important for a long lasting seal that will hold up to moisture from drinks. Allow the Mod Podge to dry completely in between coats.
Once the Mod Podge has dried completely, you can put the coasters to use or wrap them up nicely to give as a gift.
I chose to leave the holder as unfinished wood because the color of the wood coordinates with my decor, but you could easily paint or stain the wood to match your decor preferences. These would also be amazing with holiday patterned paper and past Christmas photos for the holiday season!
