If you’re planning a wedding, it’s highly likely that you’re going to have a few guests coming from out of town to celebrate your big day. These homemade wedding welcome baskets are the perfect way to make them feel at home! It includes made from scratch homemade bread and a little jar of local honey butter. These DIY edible favors are the perfect little snack to get them through the busy days ahead!
Supplies needed to make your own DIY edible favors:
- Wood Berry Baskets
- Bamboo Baker’s Twine
- Metal Rim Tags
- Hinged Lid Glass Jars
- Mega Sized Mini Loaf Pan
- Parchment Sheets
Since you’re planning a wedding, I’m sure you’re concerned about both time and money. Don’t worry, this project won’t take much of either! The mini loaf pan makes 18 breads so you’ll probably only need to do one or two batches to cover all your out of town guests.
There are tons of super easy loaf pan recipes that you can choose from online. I used this great recipe from Baker Bettie to make a simple loaf that would pair well with butter. The recipe has tons of ways you can customize the bread to make it either sweet or savory as well. If you’re planning on making the entire loaf pan, you’re going to want to double the recipe. Also, I added just a few shakes of Italian Seasonings to give the bread some color.
I absolutely love how adorable these sweet little loafs look in the wedding welcome baskets!
After the breads have cooled down, just grab a sheet of parchment paper and some twine to wrap each one up individually. I love how the white parchment paper and twine looks with the wood basket!
Making the butter is even easier than the bread! Just mix softened butter with some local honey and fill each small container. You can find local honey at many farmer’s markets or locally run stores but if you’re having a difficult time, just use regular honey. Nobody will know the difference!
With all your basket contents made, now you just have to assemble each basket! Write a quick message on the tags and attach them to the basket with a piece of twine. Add the wrapped bread and a jar of butter and your DIY edible favors are ready!
