Looking for a fun winter kids craft that is useful AND has a long shelf life? Look no further than this simple, yet adorable, tissue box DIY snowman! It is inexpensive to make, and there are so many fun ways to customize it. Kids will have a blast creating it and will love seeing it in the home day after day. My 7 year old and I both made one and I love them both, though the character in hers makes me smile just a tad more!
Supplies needed to make your own tissue box DIY:
Step one. Paint the tissue box cover white. It may take several coats to get complete coverage. Allow to dry completely between coats.
Step two. Using a round paint brush and black paint, create two coal eyes. If the round brush does not give complete coverage, use a regular paint brush to fill in the circles.
Paint small circles for the mouth.
Step three. Add a carrot nose with orange paint.
If you want to add a bit of rosy cheeks to your snowman, use a round paint brush and dip it lightly into red paint. Dab the brush onto paper towels until there is mostly dry brush with just a bit of paint and lightly dab onto the snowman’s cheeks.
Step four. Allow the face to dry completely. Add a dab of white paint to each eye.
Step five. You can choose to add other features such as eyebrows or a scarf, leave your jolly fellow as is – whatever you prefer. Once completely dry, place on top of a tissue box and you’ve got a fun and festive snowman tissue box DIY cover!
I might have my daughter make a few more of these as some DIY gifts for her grandparents. I know they’ll love them and she’ll be proud!
