Today’s craft features an on-the-go kid’s activity. Everything stores inside of a standard photo storage box for easy clean-up and portability! This rubber band game is a fun one for the kids to help create as well.
Supplies needed to make your own rubber band game:
- Photo Storage Box
- Colored Paper Craft Rolls
- Big Value Neon Craft Pack – Chenille Stems, Pom Poms & Wiggle Eyes
- Rubber Band Ball
- White Craft Fur
- Utility Knife
- Plastic Gallon Jug Lids (6)
Begin by creating your paper craft roll characters. Above supplies are just suggestions. If you are going to cut “mouths” out of the paper rolls, take care. This should be done by an adult. Children can help design and assist with gluing.
Continue creating your characters until you have six of them.
Use strong adhesive. These little guys are going to get knocked around!
Allow the adhesive to fully dry.
Place the characters where they have the best chance of being singled out by elastic bands! I found it best to set them up like bowling pins.
Mark the spaces where your characters will be using a pen.
Using a strong adhesive, glue the plastic gallon jug lids where your marks are.
The lids provide some stability for your characters, so they won’t just easily topple over.
Place all of your characters in place on the lids, and you are ready to play!
Keep practicing until you master the skill of rubber band warfare!
Then tuck everything into the photo storage box until next time.
When I set up my rubber band game in the yard for a trial run, I had a whole gathering of neighborhood kids lining up to try.
I am sure it will be making more appearances this summer.
I hope you are inspired to break out some craft supplies and create a fun rubber band game too!
