Make this patriotic DIY bandana banner to add a little Americana to your home this summer. This is a great project because there is no sewing required. Just a few inexpensive supplies and you can have a banner for your home decor.
- Red, White, and Blue Bandanas (I used one of each color)
- Jute Twine
- Hot Glue and Glue Gun
Start by cutting your bandanas into flags. I cut mine in half once then cut those pieces in half again then cut those pieces in half once more. So in the end, you are cutting each of the three bandanas into eight pieces. You can see the cuts made below.
Now we want to add a cut at the bottom. Fold each section in half and start about 2 inches up from the bottom and cut to the corner. You can see one cut below.
Repeat several times until you have flags in all three colors. How many of these you actually use will depend on how long you want your banner. I used about four of each color. I chose to use only the ones that come from the center of the bandana but this is not required.
NOTE: You may want to press your flags with a hot iron before starting this next step. Lay the flags with the right side down and run a bead of hot glue close to the top. Add your jute twine to the glue.
Add another bead of glue on top of the twine and fold over the bandana flag. This will give you a more finished appearance.
Repeat these steps until you have a patriotic DIY bandana banner that you feel is long enough. I used mine on my rustic farmhouse mantel.
