I’m loving the convenience of massage bars. No bulky container that would spill out if you laid your bag wrong, just the right amount of moisture and super convenient to carry around in a small tin! I thoroughly enjoyed creating this massage bar recipe and I bet you will, too!
Step 1. Measure and melt 2 oz of beeswax. This will take the longest to melt, about 3-4 minutes if you are using pellets, and 4-6 minutes if you are using a bar form. Mix in your cocoa and shea butters, and melt again. Note: To make a firmer massage bar, add more beeswax to your base mixture.
Step 2. Mix in 1 oz of Sweet Almond oil and 1/2 oz of Jojoba oil. You can definitely substitute them based on what you have on hand or your preferences.
Step 3. Mix in 18 drops of sweet orange oil and about 18-24 drops of lavender essential oil (I added more lavender as I love the smell of it).
Step 4. Before pouring into your molds, pour your ‘mixins’ in – I used lavender buds, which is optional, and you can definitely substitute them depending on the essential oils you use.
Step 5. Pour your mix into your mold carefully and leave to set. The measurements in this tutorial produce about 2-3 medium sized massage bars depending on your mold.
Step 6. Pop it out once dry & set and you are done! Keep it in a cool dry place, and if you are carrying it in a bag, use a tin to store and protect it.
This massage bar recipe makes excellent gifts for friends and family no matter the season. What scent would you make your massage bar in?
