With a baby coming, I am creating a lot of cute bodysuits for her to wear. This fruit-themed DIY baby bodysuit project is just adorable and I’m pretty sure my little girl is going to look so cute with them on! It’s also a great activity for a baby shower – just pre-dye the bodysuits prior to the event and decorate with your friends!
- Baby Bodysuits
- Rit Dye (I used fuschia and golden yellow)
- Container to Soak
- Heat Transfer Vinyl
- Green Craft Felt
- Electronic Die Cutter (optional)
- Fabric Glue

Step 1. Dye your bodysuits – I used a mixture of fuschia and golden yellow to get a light strawberry color, and a straight-golden yellow for the pineapple design. For mixing colors, make sure the dye powders are melted and mixed or you will get specks of colors (like I did).
Step 2. Wash your bodysuits and wait for them to fully dry. Iron the suits to make them easier to decorate.
Step 3. Cut a template for your leaves. I used cardstock to cut a template for the leaves, and cut the pattern three times on the felt sheet.
Step 4. Lay and measure the leaves to see if they fit correctly. If not, cut and measure another set until you get a layout that you like.
Step 5. Attach your felt leaves onto your bodysuits. I used fabric glue for mine, however you can also sew it on directly. Once attached, trim the excess felt around the neckline area.
Step 6. Size, cut and weed your details (templates available above) on heat transfer vinyl. If you don’t have an electronic die cutter, you can easily paint it onto the bodysuits.
Step 7. Finally, iron the design onto your DIY baby bodysuit, peel the transfer sheet and you are done!
