April is here and that means Mother’s Day and spring flowers are near! I created this easy and free Mother’s Day printable that would be the perfect gift/keepsake for my mom and mom-in-law and it’s so easy to make. No special machine is needed, just a few supplies! See how I made this fun little gift and download the printable so you can make your own.
Supplies needed to make your own free Mother’s Day printable pennant:
- Printable Transfer Sheets (for white fabric)
- Fabric
- Printer
- Basswood Rod Wood Pieces
- Box Cutter
- Scissors
- Iron
- Hem Tape or Fabric Glue
- Jute Twine
- Hot Glue Gun
- 8.5 x 11 Sheet of Paper
- Free Printable Download (download it here)
Step 1. Cut your fabric to size. I used a standard sheet of paper sized at 8.5″ x 11″ as a guideline for my pennant banner. Using the same paper, iron the sides so you get clean edges. For the bottom, fold the fabric on the center and cut from the middle to the about 1/2-3/4″ from the corner edge diagonally to get your pennant shape.
Step 2. Hem the three folded edges of your pennant with an iron-on hem tape or even fabric glue. No sewing required! However, if you would like to sew the edges of your banner you can do that as well.
Step 3. Print the free printable and cut around it loosely. I like leaving some space between the edge of the artwork.
Step 4. Iron the printed design face down, until the design completely transfers to the fabric. Pressure and patience is key in this step. Peel off the transfer sheet once this is complete.
Step 5. Finally, attach the top frame. Cut off 2 pieces of basswood measuring 9″ in length and a length of jute twine. Hot glue one of the pieces on the back of the pennant, glue the jute twine on either end, and then attach the second piece of basswood. And you are done!
Create a simple but unique gift for your mom (or mother-in-law!) with this easy free Mother’s Day printable DIY. This is perfect for both my mom and mom-in-law.
