Three things make me very happy – wine, my Cricut, and easy gift ideas. Today I’ve combined those three things into one fabulous hostess gift. This wine bag DIY is easy to decorate and make the perfect hostess gift for all those holiday parties.
As the holidays quickly approach, it’s definitely time to start thinking of hostess gifts. And, as soon as I saw that Consumer Crafts had wine bottle bags I knew I needed them. We travel for Thanksgiving so taking food is not an option. Instead, I stock up on wine and take a bottle to all the family that we visit. Now, I won’t just have a bottle of wine. I’ll have wine inside these decorated wine bottle bags.
Want to decorate your own wine bottle bags? Of course you do!
Supplies needed to decorate your own wine bag DIY:
- Wine Bottle Bags
- Cricut® Explore Air 2 (or your favorite cutting machine)
- Black Iron on Vinyl
- Cricut® Cutting Mat
- SVG Files (optional)
Begin by uploading the SVG files into Cricut Design Space or creating your own design. Resize image to fit the front of the wine bags. I set mine to 3 x 6.

Next, cut iron on vinyl into 3 x 6 strips. Add iron on vinyl to the cutting mat and click “Make It”. Turn dial on Cricut® to Vinyl and click on “mirror.”
Now, it’s time to let your cutting machine work its magic.
Weed out the extra vinyl around your words or image. Flip over and place vinyl on wine bags and iron in place.
Now your ready to add your favorite wine to the bag, tie a bow using the jute provided, and you have a great gift for all your favorite people! Every dinner party needs wine and everyone bottle of wine needs a fun gift bag.
I think I say this a lot but this might be my favorite Cricut project yet. And, don’t worry if you don’t have a fancy vinyl cutter. Use iron on letters or write your sayings on yourself using a paint marker.
