The weather is still hot here in Texas, but I’m ready for the cool weather to start rolling in. In anticipation of crisp fall days, I created this easy felt tiered tassel DIY scarf. Tassels were all the rage this summer, and I will show you how to transition them into fall with this simple project.
The beauty of this project is that it requires no sewing, and yet will keep you warm and cozy when the temperatures start to fall.
Supplies needed to make your own tassel DIY scarf:
- (12) 9 x 12 inch Sheets of Felt (feel free to use all one color or mix it up with several colors)
- Scissors
- Hot Glue Gun
- Chunky Yarn
Begin by cutting your felt sheets in half “hamburger style” (i.e. to create two 9″ by 6″ pieces). Then fringe cut the ends of the felt leaving about 1/2″ uncut at the top.
Fold your piece of yarn in half and start at the end of one side of the yarn. Add a line of glue along the top uncut portion of the felt. Then wrap it around the piece of yarn to create a tassel.
Next, add another piece of felt by gluing the top uncut portion and wrapping it around the yarn just above your first tassel. Repeat this process until you get to the top of where the yarn was folded in half.
Now repeat with the other side of the yarn, starting at the bottom and working your way up. Finally glue a small strip of felt around the piece of yarn that rests on your neck. You are now ready to wear your new tiered tassel DIY scarf.
I love that this easy felt tiered tassel DIY scarf project was not only simple and quick to make, but is inexpensive too! At under $5 each, you can easily make one in every color.
