To create a clean yet shabby chic burlap look you only need a few ingredients:
- Lace Doilies – Pineapple, Circle
- Martha Stewart Crafts Lace Butterflies
- Scrap Fabric
- Sewing Machine and Thread
Cut the fabric to 11″ x 10″. Fold down a 1/4 inch of fabric and sew the edge with a zig zag stitch. I have found this to be the best stitch for burlap – it really helps to keep the material from fraying. Trim off excess thread.
To make the rosette for the shabby chic burlap bag:
Cut a strip of fabric into a circle the size that you want the rosette. Mine is 1.5 inches. Then cut a strip of fabric to 1″ x 20″. I like to cut extra long. You can always trim off excess.
Add a dollop of glue in center.
Tuck the tail end in the back and add a dollop of glue to secure. Adhere to a piece of twine or scrap ribbon to tie on bag.
There you have it, a simple yet romantic shabby chic burlap gift bag with doilies and a rosette tie.
