Did you know that you can make a driftwood DIY fish easily? Even if you don’t have a place to go get driftwood? Oh yes you can! This project is perfect for a summer mantel or a beach home. Get your driftwood and make this nautical themed decor for your home.
Supplies to make your own driftwood DIY fish:
- Craft Driftwood Pieces
- Large Unfinished Basswood Plaque
- Scroll Saw
- Hot Glue and Glue Gun
- Sawtooth Hanger
Start by drawing a fish like shape onto the plaque with a pencil.
Use the scroll saw to cut out your shape. Always read all directions and follow safety precautions when using power tools.
You will want to add the sawtooth hanger to the back of your project using a hammer at this stage.
Use the same saw to cut the driftwood to size. You may have to use two pieces of driftwood in some areas in order for it to be long enough. I cut everything and did a dry fit before using glue.
Finally use glue to adhere the driftwood to the plaque. I used hot glue and a glue gun but an industrial strength glue would work in this case as well.
You can then hang your project on the wall using the sawtooth hanger that you added above.
This is a great way to add a touch of the beach to your home. If you are headed to the beach this summer, be sure to collect driftwood from the ocean. Otherwise, order our driftwood and use it for all of your projects.
