Fresh fruity fun. That’s what summer means to me! I also love crafting with my kids during the summer. These colorful, scented DIY watermelon bath salts are the perfect family craft project and they make bath time oh so much more fun too! With just a few ingredients, you will be on your way to a relaxing, delicious scented summery bath.
- Craft Jars
- Green Acrylic Paint
- Black Sharpie
- Paint Brush
- Bowl and Spoon
- Epsom Salts
- Watermelon Lemonade Scented Fragrance Oil
- Red Soap Colorant
Begin by making your scented bath salt mixture. To do this, add 8-10 drops of fragrance per 2 cups of bath salts and mix well. Then add about 1 tsp of food coloring liquid and stir until the bath salts are redish pink. Feel free to add extra color as needed to achieve the look of watermelon. This is the perfect step for your kids to help out on.
Next, paint the lids of the jars with the green acrylic paint and let dry. Then fill the jars with the bath salt mixture and add the green painted lid.
The last step is to use the black sharpie to add the watermelon seeds to the jar itself.
Just draw them on and let dry.
Not only are these fun for kids to help you make, but by adding a gift tag, they make the perfect gift too! You can also use this same technique to create other scented bath salts like coconut (just paint the lid brown like a coconut), or blueberry muffin. I don’t know about you, but now I am ready to draw a bath and get to relaxing with my current summer book.
