It’s so easy to assemble your own DIY spa gift basket. Here’s how:
Step 1. Start with your basic gift basket base – you will need the oval tub, tissue paper and paper shred.
Step 2. Fill the bottom of the tub with crumpled tissue paper, about halfway. This is done to bulk up the container so you don’t need as many things to put in it.
Step 3. Next, add the paper shred on top of the crumpled tissue paper. I like reserving a bit of the paper shred so I can fill in spots when needed.
Step 4. Start from the back going towards the front. Put the bigger items in the back (in my case, a pair of slippers and bottles of shower gel and body lotion in matching containers. Tuck the items carefully, making sure to move the paper shred so it nestles the items perfectly.
Step 5. Continue filling your basket, adding some paper shred to separate the items. Add different things like bath bombs (which you can make yourself if you have the time – see the tutorial here or purchase ready-made ones), and other bath items. I added an electric wax warmer and some wax melts onto mine, in lieu of a candle, but you can definitely add a candle instead if you feel you like that better!
Step 6. Create your scented bath salts as follows, or purchase a ready-made mix.
Step 6.a You will need: 1 cup of epsom salt, 1/2 cup baking soda, food coloring and 20-30 drops of your chosen essential oil. Mix the epsom salt and baking soda together. Add your essential oil and mix thoroughly.
Step 6.b Add drops of food coloring until you are satisfied with the color – I used a combination of purple and red food coloring to get a subtle lavender hue to match the items in my gift basket. Finally, pack it into your container of choice and label as needed.
Step 7. Print and cut the label.
Step 8. Lastly, using some jute twine, tie the label on the oval tub. And you are done!
This basket is perfect for people who love to relax in the bath – they would love it for sure. You can add, substitute or remove elements as needed – add a bathrobe if you have a bigger basket, face masks, or even a bath pillow!
