Spring has finally sprung and I’m so excited! It’s about time because I’m ready to sit out on our patio and relax. But, it also means that the bugs are out which is always annoying. Who wants to be bothered by mosquitoes and other bugs flying around while trying to enjoy the gorgeous weather? Not me and I’m sure you all will agree. Well, I’ve found the perfect solution to that problem – outdoor DIY mason jar luminaries. These luminaries use essential oils to keep those pesky bugs away making them all natural and the perfect addition to your outdoor living space.
Supplies needed to make your own DIY mason jar luminaries:
- Mason Jars
- Rosemary Essential Oil
- Eucalyptus Essential Oil
- Lemons and Limes, sliced thinly
- Fresh Rosemary Sprigs
- Water
- Floating Candles
Step 1. Place a few slices of lemons and limes to mason jars.
Step 2. Add 3-4 sprigs of rosemary to each mason jar.
Step 3. Fill each mason jar 3/4 of the way with water.
Step 4. Add 20 drops of essential oil to each mason jar. Feel free to add a few extra drops to the larger mason jar and you can also mix the different scents or just use one in each jar. I added 10 drops of each to the three mason jars.
Step 5. Float additional lemon and lime slices on top of the water and rosemary. Finally, top with a floating candle, and you’re done!
Note: Remove floating candles and store luminaries in refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Not only do these DIY mason jar luminaries smell amazing and keep the bugs away but they also add a pretty glow to your outdoor space as the sun goes down. So head outside and relax! It’s time to enjoy the beautiful weather without the bug bites.
