Father’s Day is right around the corner, so today I’m sharing a fun project that would be the perfect gift for Dad or Grandpa. This photo frame wooden DIY desk organizer is easy to build and perfect for Dad to take to the office. And it’s easy enough to build that the kids can help!
Supplies needed to make your own DIY desk organizer:
- Unfinished Wood Picture Frames (4)
- 1.25 inch Wooden Ball Feet (4)
- Chipboard
- Spray Stain & Foam Brush
- Wood Glue
- Matte Finish Spray
- Cardstock
Step 1. Place wooden frames together so they form a rectangle.
Step 2. Glue frames together with wood glue and let dry completely.
Step 3. Cut a piece of chipboard to fit the bottom of the box. Attach using wood glue and let dry completely.
Step 4. Stain frames and ball feet using the spray stain and a foam brush. I love this stain because it doesn’t stink like normal wood stain and it dries really quickly. Caution: it stains skin so you may want to wear gloves.
Step 5. Use wood glue to attach the ball feet to the bottom of the box.
Step 6. When the stain is dry, spray the entire DIY desk organizer with finish spray for protection. This needs to be done outside or in a well-ventilated area. Let dry completely.
Step 7. Create a liner for the box by taping four rectangles of cardstock together. Make sure you place the tape on the outside of the lining so it won’t be visible when inserted into the wood box.
Cut one last piece of cardstock to place on the inside floor of the DIY desk organizer. I included a secret message on mine just for fun.
Step 8. Insert photos into the frames, then slide the cardstock liner into place and fill with office supplies!
Pair this DIY desk organizer with this mini-hanger DIY Father’s Day card for the perfect gift!
So cute, Jennifer!
AWESOME … and not just for dad!! 😉
