Ever since I was a kid, I was always a sucker for all the cute keychains you could buy. Since then, I’ve definitely become more minimalist with my keychain, but I still like to add a little something fun, and if anything, it makes it easier to find my keys at the bottom of my purse. In this DIY keychain tutorial I will show you how to make a simple color block keychain!
This DIY keychain tutorial is super easy and fun to make. Just add your favorite colors of yarn and wrap it around some cording. You can use scraps of yarn that I know everyone has lying around. These keychains would also make great gifts for a friend or even a great item to sell. You can use your friend’s favorite colors and customize this keychain with those colors for a very personalized gift!
Supplies needed for this DIY keychain tutorial:
Step 1. To begin, decide how big you want your keychain by folding over the cord and mimicking the finished product. Then cut the cord.
Step 2. Pick your first yarn color and tie it on the cord. Start wrapping for about an inch or so. Do this for one or two more colors.
Step 3. Add the ring before wrapping the cord together to make the final loop.
Step 4. Now using a different color or the same color, wrap the yarn around both pieces of the cord to finish off the loop. Tie the yarn off in a knot and cut off excess yarn.
Step 5. Finally, finish by unwinding the loose ends of the cording. You can use a small comb to smooth out the tails. And that’s it, you’re done! A super easy and cute color block DIY keychain tutorial.
