If you’re hosting a 4th of July party there’s no need to slave all day in the kitchen baking a dessert for your guests. Instead, purchase store-bought cupcakes and dress them up with these marbled chocolate patriotic cupcake toppers. These 4th of July cupcakes are fun, yummy and no one needs to know they didn’t take you hours to bake. Your secret is safe with me!
Supplies needed to make your own 4th of July cupcakes:
- White Make’n Mold Candy Melts
- Navy Make’n Mold Candy Melts
- Red Make’n Mold Candy Melts
- 3 inch Star Cookie Cutter
- Red, White & Blue American Flag Treat Toppers
- Red & White Polka Dots Baking Cups
- Wilton Candy Jimmies Sprinkles
- 10 inch Bamboo Skewers
- Cupcakes (either homemade or store bought)
- Parchment Paper
To begin, pour the candy melts into microwave safe bows, and melting in the microwave in 30-second, stirring in between each interval.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside. Once the candies are fully melted, add spoonfuls of each color onto the paper at random.
Once you have covered the paper with chocolate, use a bamboo skewer to swirl the chocolate together. Start by running the skewer back and forth in one direction, and then go back over it in the same motion in the opposite direction.
Allow the chocolate to set by cooling in the refrigerator for 5 – 10 minutes. Once it has fully set, it’s time to cut into stars. Gently press the star cookie cutter down into chocolate. If the chocolate is too hard, you can warm up the cookie cutter by soaking in hot water for a minute first.
Next, add red, white and blue sprinkles to the cupcakes.
Top each cupcake with one of the marbled stars. Full disclosure – I broke the ends of a few of mine, but using a bit of the melted chocolate to “glue” the pieces back together easily salvaged them!
Add a flag treat topper to each, and place each cupcake into a red and white polka dot cupcake wrapper for added interest.
Finally, serve your 4th of July cupcakes on a pretty cake stand and sit back while your guests compliment you on your beautifully decorated cupcakes! They’ll never believe how easy they were to create!
