How did this day of mischief get started? The true origins of April Fools’ Day are obscure, but what we do know is that the tradition of this prank-filled day dates back to the 1500s. So, who are we to mess with tradition?
Join in on the pranks, humor and practical jokes with your entire family this year. Here are a few pranks for kids ideas to get you started, but with a little creativity you can turn this into a day your family won’t quickly forget…
Pranks for Kids #1: What’s for breakfast? Create custom packets of “doughnut seeds” with your kids and have them pass the seeds out to friends.
Pranks for Kids #2: What are you going to drink with those freshly picked doughnuts? Milk, of course. Give your kids a morning giggle by putting blue food coloring in their milk and crafting a custom label for the carton. Or, play a nastier trick and take the cream out of Oreo cookies and replace it with toothpaste! Just don’t forget you did it…

Pranks for Kids #3: In just one hour you can create “faked potatoes.” Stuff nude-colored tights or nylons with pillow batting.
For the potato eyes, push a threaded needle up from the bottom and then back through where it came out. Pull the needle and then knot the thread to secure it. Use sharp scissors to create the opening of your baked potato and cut a square of yellow foam sheet for butter.

Pranks for Kids #4: Take your trickery outside of the house with a pack of colored craft google eyes. Make a trip to your local drug store and let your children put adhesive craft eyes on the models in store displays. This harmless prank may just make someone’s day.
Pranks for Kids #5: Make disguises. Let each child create their own custom character. Whether it’s a silly mustache made of chenille stems or a pirate patch made of construction paper, chenille stems and glitter, let their creativity take control. They might not even recognize themselves by the time they’re finished!
