Reluctantly I have turned my thoughts to Back to School. Most of the stores around my house have already started putting out school supplies. Today’s project captures the spirit of Back to School with an adorable, no-sew apple craft stamped tote bag. I really love the size of this bag, it is roomy, with a large pocket on the front of the bag. Perfect for books in a month or so- but I am determined to use it as my pool bag for as long as I can!
Here are the supplies I used to customize this apple craft bag. Including an apple. Yep! A real apple was used for the stamp.
Supplies needed to make your own apple craft tote:
- Natural Color Canvas Extra Large Tote Bag
- Studio 71 Acrylic Red Paint
- Studio 71 Acrylic Green Paint
- Rose Leaf
- 5mm Black Cup Sequins
- A Fine Line Liquid Glue
- Apple, sliced in half
- Napkins
Select an apple with a nice shape, and cut it in half. Dry the apple half with a napkin.
Apply red acrylic paint to the cut surface of the apple.
Do a test stamp with the apple onto a napkin. This will help you to determine if the apple surface is even, and how much paint to apply to the surface of the apple to get a clear image.
To get my images to line up evenly on my bag, I used some cut paper circles to arrange the placement of the apples.
Carefully stamp your apple, reloading the paint with each image.
Continue until all your images are stamped. You can touch up paint with a small brush if you like. I personally love the uneven, organic look of stamped images.
Using green acrylic paint and a small brush, paint a stem in the center of each apple.
Using fabric adhesive, add a silk leaf to each apple stem.
Trim the excess wire from the leaves before adhering them.
Select a few black sequins for each apple.
Using fabric adhesive, adhere each sequin to the centers of the apples to mimic apple seeds.
Lay the apple craft project out flat to dry according to the manufacturer instructions. (Mine suggested 24 hours.)
Then your apple craft tote is ready to be filled with beach towels (for now) and eventually books!
While you’re thinking about back to school, this teacher gift idea frame with free printable is quick and easy!

Shaunte is a 30-something, chocolate-loving, SAHM from Utah. She has been scrapbooking since 1997, the dreaded era of photos cropped with deco scissors. Since then, her work has evolved into a clean, linear, photo-focused style. Her favorite subjects to scrap are her husband and five kids (never a lack for subject material there).
I love it! I think I will get my kids to make some as a Back to School present for their teachers.
How cute! You can probably try other fruits like pears!
Love it! I love things with unexpected details. I have to make this tote for myself and a few friends.
