I’ve always loved the holidays, and this year I am trying to incorporate balloons into my holiday decor where ever I can. These letter balloons come in a metallic gold, but they are so easy to transform with paint into any color scheme or phrase you want! This colorful snowflake DIY balloon decor is perfect for your next holiday party and will look super cute above the dessert table or as a photo booth backdrop.
Supplies to make your own DIY balloon decor:
- 16″ Letter Balloons
- Acrylic Craft Paint
- Sponge Paint Brushes
- White Vinyl
- Vinyl Cutter like a Silhouette or Cricut Maker
Begin by removing the balloons from the package and paint the front of all the letters with your acrylic paint. You may need to do two coats of paint to fully cover the gold.
While you are waiting for the paint to dry, you can begin to cut out your vinyl snowflakes. You can save the below snowflake image to upload into the cutting software of your choice and then scale down to 2″ and 1″ snowflakes. Cut 2-3 dozen out of your vinyl.
Once the balloons are dry, use the included straw to inflate the balloons. Once inflated, peel off the snowflakes and stick them to the balloons like stickers to create your own snowflake covered balloons. You can go very heavy handed or add a few here and there like I did. It’s up to you!
String them up with fishing line or baker’s twine and they are ready for your holiday party!
The best thing about this tutorial is that you can easily change up the phrase, colors, and vinyl decal to match the theme of any party. You could even paint the balloons in red and white stripes to look like candy canes!
Now who’s ready to throw that holiday party with your own colorful snowflake DIY balloon decor?!
